The list below are many of the people on whose work and life has influenced what has become Elegant Reasonism. Some are modern, some ancient, others contemporary. Part of the Elegant Reasonism process requires a historical view of the original works by the original author. We have hundreds of Gbs of material being organized into the User Library of public domain materials. Material not in the public domain is not listed but remains a resource nevertheless.

I (Charles C McGowen, Sr.) would like to acknowledge all of my family, extended and otherwise, to let them know they are greatfully appreciated. Below (in alphabetical order) are the founders of what you see here. Nothing you see here could have been accomplished absent their personal involvement.

  • Bonner, Jack Anderson (Andy)
  • Glaze, Kathy Cooke *
  • Maier, Kevin
  • Mann, John R
  • McGowen, Charles C, Jr (My Son) *
  • McGowen, Lindsey D (My Daughter)
  • McGowen, Ruth C & Charles Ward (My Parents)
  • Shoemaker, James D
  • Wright, Robert *

Accomplishing unification was an epic task and it could not have been done absent the incredible insight and wisdom of the following people both living and gone. It is said that we all stand on the shoulders of giants and in this case that is certainly true. For me, (Charles C McGowen), I am eternally grateful to have been alive at a time allowing such interactions to influence what must be. There is no chance I could have done this alone in a vacuum. Persistence, perseverance, and steadfast focus on pursuit of something that had to be within our grasp was my meager contribution.

* Denotes people that were at one time or another part of SolREI Field Team 1 helping me to gather field information connecting theoretical expectations to results on the ground. Access to public lands was secured and we all innocently entered a national forest to conduct our research. Part of that information is now a piece of The Talladega Report. Immediately upon recognition of the situation my son was prohibited from participation in any further exposure. Bobby and I knowingly continued in the hopes it would make others safe (because our exposure was already problematic).

It must too be noted that more than several organizations were responsible for influencing me and which resulted in the meager drive to get just this far. In alphabetical order they are:

  • Auburn University
  • Barr Air Patrol, whose support happened to be coincidental with assigned tasks but warrants mention as our patrol area ran adjacent to exposure areas mentioned in The Talladega Report. The video imagery of aircraft based pilot point of view of the phenomena called “Glorys” was taken on deadhead legs and later integrated with entanglement research. Appropriate Kinder-Morgan staff was alerted to The Talladega Report for appropriate action (their buried pipelines run through soils in that area). I lost count of aerial imagery captured of Perimeters during dead head legs.
  • International Business Machines (IBM), my tenure there spanned 1979 – 2003
    • Most especially the OS/2 Warp team worldwide but especially the development team in Boca Raton (you guys rock)
    • The initial team who started the Internet Division at IBM, especially John Patrick who believed in me and Irving Wladawsky-Berger who then supported my efforts, as well as Rod Adkins for all he did behind the scenes during several assignments.
    • The General Systems Division service team in the Birmingham, Alabama Branch Office
    • The Marketing Education group out of Atlanta, especially Jeff Holm, Ed Konrad, Sam Janetta, and many many more.
    • The General Systems Division team for mid-range systems, especially the System/38 teams both in the field and in Rochester Mn
    • The Entry Systems Business Unit (prior to it being assimilated as Entry Systems Division of the company) (That team was responsible for the creation of the IBM Personal Computer, Personal System/2, and OS/2 which ultimately became OS/2 Warp).
      • Special Note: Don Estridge and wife Mary Ann were killed in the crash of Delta Air Lines Flight 191 at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on August 2, 1985. He was 48 years old. At the time of his death, IBM ESD, which included the development and manufacturing of the IBM PC, PC DOS, PC LAN and TopView, had nearly 10,000 employees and had sold over a million PCs. I was part of that organization. Estridge has been honored many times. In 1999, he was identified in CIO magazine as one of the people who “invented the enterprise”. The Don Estridge High-Tech Middle School — formerly IBM Facility Building 051 — in Boca Raton, Florida, is named after him, and received Estridge’s IBM 5150 personal computers from his family on the occasion of its dedication in 2004. For several years I maintained an office in Building 051 on the E isle. The NTSB attributed the accident to a lack of the ability to detect microbursts aboard aircraft; the radar equipment aboard aircraft at the time was unable to detect wind changes, only thunderstorms. After the investigation, NASA researchers at Langley Research Center modified a Boeing 737-200 as a testbed for an onboard Doppler weather radar. The resultant airborne wind shear detection and alert system was installed on many commercial airliners in the United States after the Federal Aviation Administration mandated that all commercial aircraft must have on-board wind shear-detection systems.
    • Ed Robbins, Jerry Fensterstock, Rick Cambell graciously enabled my CHQ tenure 97-02ish on the worldwide marketing management development team.
    • Benoit Mandelbrot whose insatiable curiosity I shared, RIP sir. Your interest in Perimeters was then and remains now appreciated. I am pleased to report that if MBPs are taken as fractal initiators then the unified Universe is a fractal.
  • National Association Of Scuba Diving Schools (NASDS), John Gaffney, Bill Tant, Jean-Michelle Cousteau and the scuba community at large.
  • Tau Kappa Epsilon, Beta Lambda Chapter at Auburn YITB

IBM OS/2 Warp Team

You guys one and all influenced me and my thinking more than I can ever describe in words. I do not believe I could have done this absent the impression you left within me. Your pursuit of excellence, dedication to the customer, and respect for each other is unmatched. You are forever in my heart.
