Faster Than Light travel has been a staple of imaginative writers for ages. When we mode shift the age of the unified Universe and find it ancient in the extreme and we essentially vindicate Edwin Hubble in his interpretation of Red & Blue shifted astronomical observations there is a tendency to jump on this and celebrate. However, caution is warranted. The Emergence Model defines space as dimensionless nothing. Nothing can not impart any stress, tension, traction, necessary in order to facilitate a change in vector. When we mode shift Newton’s Laws we find that their traditional definitions described answers to ‘what’ questions and The Emergence Model winds up describing ‘why’ those are true. While you may initiate ‘managed Severance field drives’ to achieve high Rapidities the entire unified Universe is essentially in motion. If you miscalculate or navigate in error, you are going to be on that vector until you reach a real system capable of engaging your managed Severance field drives. And that’s not the only problem. Go outside. Rummage around in the soil until you find some silicate rocks. As you wonder why the elements comprising that rock or mineral found their ways together, go and look at stellar interior charts of a supernova prior to its collapse. Then look at nucleosynthesis fusion sequences. That rock in your hand has higher affinity with those sequences than pretty much any other comparison that might be made. Now, here’s the real brain twister. Presuming that rock was produced by a supernova long ago and far, far away, means that it had to have had time to get from there to here. And that’s why the mode shifted age of the unified Universe is important. Because under M1 there is not enough time for that to transpire. Under M5 however, there is more than ample time for that transition. Interesting as all that may be, the implication here, is that interstellar space is chocked full of all sizes of materials that have been ejected by supernova processes all over the place throughout all of history. The faster you go, the less likely you are going to be able to go around it and the results will be catastrophic. So as emotionally attached many of us are to FTL travel, it does not strike us as probable. Does that mean it is impossible? No, just improbable. It also strikes us that managed Severance drive based technologies is what the US Navy has been chasing and videoing. Such systems work great within the confines of the solar system. The issue is what happens beyond the Oorts.
